Welcome Aboard
About the Plane
N676JM is a 2009 Mooney Acclaim Type S. This aircraft is the fastest and most capable piston aircraft manufactured today, and it is loaded with features for your comfort and the safety of flight.
- In-flight Sirius XM audio entertainment
- In-flight weather data link for the pilot (radar, surface conditions, and more)
- Equipped for flight into known icing conditions
- Multiple 12V accessory power plugs plugs.
Typical cruise speed is 230 MPH, and range of over 1100 miles is available.
About the Pilot
Dan has been flying since 1989 and has more than 4000 hours of accident and incident-free flight experience. He holds a Commercial, Multi-engine, Instrument, and Glider pilot's certificate.
What to Expect/ Planning
- Please pack light. Duffel bags are preferable to heavy, hard-sided suitcases.
- Firearms are welcome. For your own comfort, please store them in a case in the luggage compartment.
- Many airport buildings, particularly in Illinois, will be posted "no concealed carry." Plan accordingly.
- You will not have to go through security or wait in line.
- Bring a bottle of water and snacks.
- Bring sunglasses. Even if it is cloudy on the surface, we typically cruise above the clouds.
- There is no bathroom onboard, so plan accordingly. We normally fly legs no longer than 2.5 - 3 hours and can, of course, land if the "situation" is urgent.
The Flight
Friends and co-workers can follow our flight with a free service from flightaware.com
The flight tracking link will always be https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N676JM
You will be provided with noise-canceling headsets for use during the flight. They are very comfortable and effective at quieting an otherwise noisy environment. Passengers and pilot may easily communicate through an on-board intercom which works through these headsets.
If the flight will be at altitudes requiring the use of on-board supplemental Oxygen, you will be provided with a new nasal cannula. This is yours to keep as we don't recycle them for different passengers!
- When getting into or out of the plane, step only on the rough area of the wing. There is a strip at the back edge of the wing which says "No Step." If you step here, you could fall or damage the flap, and then we will all walk to our destination!
- The pilot gets in first.
- DO NOT TRY TO CLOSE THE MAIN DOOR BY SLAMMING IT. That can damage it. Only the pilot should close the door.
- Emergency exits are through the main door and the baggage door. To open the main door, pull the grey handle towards you. To open the baggage door, remove the cover from the interior latch. It is attached with Velcro and should come off easily. Pull the cable and remove the pin on the latch. Pull the latch towards you. The door will open outwards.
- Everyone must have their seat belts fastened at all times. The latch operates similarly to that in a car.
- During Takeoff and Landing, please keep quiet.
- If the pilot is talking on the radio, please keep quiet.
- Do not touch any knobs, controls, or buttons without the permission of the pilot.
- If you would like to fly the plane while we are en-route, just ask the pilot. It's lots of fun to do.
- If you would like to follow along with the flight progress on your Apple device, please download the Foreflight Passenger app from the Apple App store. It's free.
- During the flight, we may encounter some turbulence. This is normal and is not a cause for alarm. The airplane is capable of handling far rougher air than we will find comfortable. The bumps may be unsettling, but they are not unsafe. If you feel nauseous, there are airsickness bags in the seatback pockets.
- If we are flying in instrument conditions, we may be flying in a cloud. We will not be able to see the ground or any other outside references. This is not cause for alarm. Your pilot and the plane are well-equipped and current for instrument flight.
- Enjoy the flight and the freedom of General Aviation!
